Madness Fills My Heart And Soul

This week it was time for the much anticipated Bring Home Fashion FASHION SHOW. Focusing on the trend of up-cycling we created wonderful garments from items found in charity shops. After much success and thousands of pounds raised, the experience has finally come to an end. The first show in Galashiels was quirky and quaint with bedside lamps as Catwalk lighting and Vintage props to add some atmosphere. The Edinburgh event was a much grander affair with entertainment, auctions and a celebrity guest speaker.



I faced a mixture of feelings after the show. Relief that it was finally over, sadness because it had been a great experience, pride because all my classmates had worked so hard, but most of all - Exhaustion. The stress of the shows had taken its toll. Not before our VIP after party however. My closest friends with plenty of laughing and dancing. What more could i ask for?




I originally had dreams of stress free days after our Fashion Show, this does not seem the case however. Mountains of uni work are consuming my days and gives me one more reason to look forward to the summer.


Today's outfit drew inspiration from our Fashion Show grunge theme. Black Skinny jeans, a checkered shirt and a black leather jacket seemed the perfect combination to achieve the non-chalant image.





As the days are growing longer and the weather is growing warmer, i decided that it is time to ditch those heavy winter garments, Lighter attire may be needed now. It may be wishful thinking for the weeks to come but a girl can only dream....

Today was the start of the University fashion lookbook coming together. Two outfits from each group photographed in the style of our decade. The hard-ass attitude came through well in both our photographs and our designs. Perfect to reflect our grunge theme. Photo's to follow..

Another exciting event today was the arrival of my new IPhone4. After having a blackberry for 18months, a change was needed and this seemed to be the right direction. You could store your life inside if you needed to and i'm afraid that after only one day, i have came to realise, i can not live without my IPhone4!




Already i have acquired the Facebook app (of course), Skype to allow free chats with my dad, Scrabble for those boring lectures at Uni and of course, Angry Birds for my own amusement! What more does a girl need? 



Knowing i was receiving such a wonderful piece of technology today meant that this morning, i woke up feeling happy, which is rare these days due to fashion show stress, work stress and money worries. However, my mood clearly effected me in more ways than one. My garment choice benefited as i braved the cold in this summer outfit. 




My fabulous Topshop shorts which i can't seem to get enough of at the moment, Lady Gaga t-shirt and my bargain holdup tights. Not a combination i would usually think of but in this instance seemed to work well. Quirky and fun, exactly what's needed on these dull and rainy days!!





My t-shirt is sporting an Andy Warhol style Lady Gaga print, who i also can't get enough of and this was all worn with a leather jacket. Finished with some flower pattern high tops and the look was complete! So what do we think? Maybe i should wake up in a good mood more often?! 

You Caught Me With My Pants Down

Another relaxing day today, awoke early this morning to sort out mobile phone contracts. Ended up with the Iphone 4 which i had my heart set on. Not only a mobile, but also an accessory to carry every aspect of my life in.


When looking at today's choice of outfit, i favoured simplistic styling. As i was not venturing far i wanted to keep it easy and relatively minimalistic. A plain black vest and cardigan is always a favourite of mine. Matching to most outfits, my advice would be always have a black vest in your closet. Paired with a navy blue skirt with tan trimmed pocket and bow tie detailing, a perfect combination for almost any occassion.

My shoes are a result of £90 Stoccatto boots breaking. They were bought from River Island with store credit for £30. The soles are made of a rubber material which gives comfort when walking. The outer material is made of tan suede, although not the best choice for the wet weather, they make walking long distances very easy and comfortable (even with a slight heel)



Possibly the best news of the day was the return of my car from the repair shop! My baby Nissan Micra had been away to be repaired after an accident and returned home to me today!! Sporting some flashy new panels and doors it looks as good as new! Shame it had to crash into a brick wall to get it that way!
Have you ever heard of the saying "you don't know what you've got til' it's gone" ? Well that doesn't just apply to love! I didn't realised how much i love and need my car... i'll be taking much better care of him from now on!

Some girls won't dance to the beat of the track.....

Relaxing day for both me and my bank balance today. After being treated to a wonderful lunch with my mum and sister we headed on a stress free food shop. Sporting a pair of Amazon print pegleg trousers and a casual black top i am far from the typical fashion student stereo-type. (not always a bad thing)
Styled with a leather jacket and no accessorising apart from my faithful Tiffany and Pandora jewelery leaves my outfit looking effortless. However, paired with some killer heels these trousers have the potential to look very amazonian princess. Always glad when clothes bring versatility to my closet.




At night it's time to switch to all over black as my work requires. Introducing statement jewelery to an all black outfit is like painting on a blank canvas. Enter my beautiful Stag necklace from Topshop...





Received as a gift from my mum, it is the perfect statement piece to match with black garments.





Bringing life to an otherwise dull work uniform and never failing to attract compliments, it has gained its place as my favourite accessory. Thank goodness for my mums knowledge and good taste in fashion!!

Forget What We're Told..... Before We Get Too Old

As the days grow longer, my wardrobe seems to grow larger. After an adventure up town today with Tiina and Lynsey and a trip with my mum yesterday, it seems my bank balance is yelling at me for a break.


With half of my class in Paris for a week, i decided that i should get a little fun too. Using the money that i would have spent on flights to buy lovely new things seemed like the best idea. New accessories to brighten up any outfit are always a welcome addition to my inventory (especially when they come in the form of sunglasses and jewelery)




A beautiful bow necklace from the "big kid " collection and Lady Gaga inspired glasses from River Island, both perfect with any outfit. "Wreck this Journal" by Keri Smith will keep me occupied with various activities over the next few months. (watch this space)


Having a unique style is becoming harder and harder in the fashion industry so if you can't beat them.... Topshop had these American Flag shorts hiding amongst the usual ripped denims that the season brings. Paired with some Raybans and a white band t-shirt, they may become my favourite summer garment!





A checkered linen shirt brings a welcome casualness to my wardrobe and is perfect for the warm weather to come. Now i sit here, patiently awaiting the sunshine and beer gardens. I long to feel the sand beneath my toes. Summer 2011.... I'm waiting!

Nobody Knows Me At All...

So here i am, i have been drawn in to the crazy world of blogging. 
What can a village girl like me offer you may ask? Well... not much. I can share my views on fashion, what's going on in my life, the music i like.... but that's it really. So why start a blog? Well i need to expand my horizons, gain some new contacts, showcase my work and hopefully make some friends a long the way. 


It's not much i know, but bare with me, i'm the new girl. I mean..... it can only get better from now on right?
